Enforcement Training Home Page

One crucial role Cal/EPA plays in California’s diverse and decentralized network of enforcement is training of enforcement personnel.

2008 Training Calendar
All training is for government employees only unless otherwise noted.

Basic Inspector Academy (BIA)
The BIA teaches environmental agency inspectors and other compliance professionals core knowledge and skills, and cross-media awareness needed to conduct quality inspections. To obtain a certificate of completion you must take both the online course and the 4 day classroom course. Sign up at the Enforcement Training Site. Anyone may view the online modules of the BIA free of charge and learn about environmental law and the various Cal/EPA agencies (login as a guest).

Enforcement Symposium
This annual four-day training event is open to environmental professionals at all levels of government, industry and members of the public. Training sessions cover enforcement programs specific to each of Cal/EPA’s boards and departments and their local counterparts. Mock administrative, civil, and criminal proceedings are presented to allow regulators to experience how their work can affect each type of proceeding.

Inspector Training Clearinghouse
The Clearinghouse for Inspector Training is a service of the Cal/EPA Inspector Certification Program. The target audience for this information is any state or local regulator that furthers Cal/EPA's mission.
