State fined for fuel tank lapses-County inspectors say leak-detection system wasn't properly checked (Sacramento Bee) -- The state department that looks after the Capitol's emergency underground fuel tank was ordered to pay $93,350 in penalties Wednesday after Sacramento County inspectors cited it for ignoring environmental and hazardous materials regulations.

SoCal company to pay $1M in air quality settlement (SFGate) -- TXI Riverside Cement Co. will pay a $600,000 in penalties and spend $400,000 toward site improvements as part of an agreement with regional air quality officials to reduce the amount of toxic cement dust escaping from a factory north of Riverside.
