Alignment of Academic Content Standards to Environmental Principles and Concepts

Mastery of the academic content standards in grades K-12 is the primary educational goal of the State Board of Education and California Department of Education. The purpose of mapping (aligning) the environmental principles and concepts to the standards is to ensure that the Model Curriculum and other instructional strategies for teaching these principles and concepts all meet the same educational goal, student mastery of the academic content standards.

The initial work on mapping of the academic content standards focused on science and history/social science.
