Alice Busching Reynolds, Deputy Secretary for Law Enforcement and CounselBiography

Alice Busching Reynolds was appointed by Governor Edmund G Brown Jr. in September 2011 to serve as Deputy Secretary for Law Enforcement and Counsel at the California Environmental Protection Agency.

Prior to joining Cal/EPA, Alice served as a deputy attorney general for the California Department of Justice since 2002 where she was a member of the Land Law Section representing the California Coastal Commission, the State Lands Commission and the San Francisco Bay Conservation Development Commission. She brings a wealth of legal expertise in land use and environmental law.

Alice honed her skills as an attorney for SNR Denton from 1998 to 2001 and an attorney for The Furth Firm from 1995 to 1998. Reynolds was also a research attorney for Santa Clara County Superior Court from 1993 to 1995.

Alice received her Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Stanford University and went on to receive her Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University School of Law where she served as associate editor of the Santa Clara Law Review and studied international human rights in France and Switzerland.

Alice lives in San Francisco with her husband and two children.
